My personal connection to SpanishFind out more

Spanish has always been much more than a language to me. It is home, family, childhood, culture, humour, food, memories and belonging.

I have always loved sharing my language with others, but becoming a mother gave that love a whole new meaning. My daughter, Aria, is my greatest inspiration. Spanish is the only language we have ever spoken together, and it is the language through which our relationship has grown from the very beginning. It fills our stories, songs, games, affection, little conversations and everyday life.

Watching her discover the world through Spanish has made me appreciate my own language in a completely new way. Every new word she learns, every unexpected expression she repeats and every conversation that becomes a little more complex reminds me how extraordinary a child’s capacity for language is.

Motherhood strengthened something that was already very important to me. I now want to share my love of Spanish with other children, helping them build a relationship with the language that goes beyond learning words and phrases. I want Spanish to feel warm, familiar and enjoyable—something they can hear, sing, play with and gradually begin to understand and use with confidence.

My multilingual experienceFind out more

My own relationship with languages began in childhood. I grew up speaking Spanish and Valencian natively, so moving naturally between languages has always been part of my life. I learned English at school and continued developing it over the years. After twelve years in the UK, it has become another language through which I live, work and communicate every day.

Studying Latin and Greek at school and university also sparked my fascination with the origins of words and the connections between languages. I have always enjoyed recognising familiar roots, noticing patterns and discovering how one language can help us understand another. These connections have also helped me develop some conversational Portuguese and a basic knowledge of Italian.

Now I am experiencing multilingual development again, but from a completely different perspective: as a mother. Spanish is currently Aria’s strongest language because it is the language she has consistently heard and used with me since birth, while English is developing through the English-speaking side of her family and the wider world around her. Watching this unfold has deepened my interest in how children absorb and use language.

Bilingual development does not always happen evenly or follow a predictable path. One language may be stronger for a time, while children may understand much more than they are ready to say. They may also mix words from different languages as they draw on everything they know to express themselves. At times, there may be quieter periods of listening and absorbing, followed by moments when new words and expressions seem to arrive all at once.

My approach to teachingFind out more

These experiences have shaped the way I approach teaching.

Children learn so much through ordinary, meaningful moments: repetition, songs, stories, movement, play and conversation. A word becomes meaningful when it connects with an object they are holding, an action they are doing or a familiar routine they have experienced many times before.

That is why giving children the opportunity to experience another language from an early age matters so much to me. Playful, familiar activities give them space to explore new sounds and patterns, listen, imitate and try things out at their own pace. They can begin to enjoy communicating in Spanish without feeling that every word has to be perfect.

What children can expectFind out more

My sessions for younger children bring this approach to life through songs, movement, stories, games, creativity and plenty of repetition. I want every child to feel welcome, enjoy taking part and have the freedom to learn at their own pace, allowing understanding and confidence to grow as Spanish gradually becomes part of their world.

My training and teaching experienceFind out more

My love of language is supported by specialist training and practical teaching experience. I completed teacher training in Spanish as a Foreign Language, covering levels A1–C2, at Tía Tula Colegio de Español in Salamanca, an Instituto Cervantes Accredited Centre. I also have two years of experience teaching Spanish to adults in language academies and online.

Alongside this, I hold a five-year bachelor’s degree with honours in Philosophy from the University of Valencia. Studying Philosophy developed my ability to explore ideas carefully, explain complex concepts clearly and consider different ways of understanding a subject. These skills inform my teaching, from breaking down a grammatical pattern into manageable steps to encouraging learners to ask questions and express their own ideas in Spanish.

Together, my native command of Spanish, specialist teacher training, academic background and teaching experience help me make lessons clear, engaging and responsive to each learner’s level, interests and goals.

My background also extends to the business world. I hold a master’s degree in International Logistics, Transport and Supply Chain, and have seven years of professional experience in exports and international trade. Having worked with customers, colleagues and overseas agents, I understand how much clear communication matters when coordinating shipments, resolving problems and building professional relationships. I bring this experience to my Business Spanish lessons, helping learners develop the vocabulary and confidence they need for their own working environments, particularly in international trade, logistics and transport.
